Mel’s Mob, what’s up?! I know I’ve been neglecting the blog the past few months, but I promise I had a good reason! I’ve been busy working, working, working, making sure I end 2018 with a BANG! I really can’t believe the holiday season is HERE…it feels like just yesterday that I was trying to figure out what I would wear for New Year’s Eve 2017! This year has ZOOMED by.

But okay…I’m back with Volume 3 of my Kictionary to help all my ladies that love sneakers, but aren’t sure how to incorporate them into your style. I promise, it’s easier than you think. I share tons of inspiration on the Kicks & Fros Instagram page, so make sure you follow us! Today, I’m giving a few super easy ways to take a pair of kicks and turn it into an entire outfit. Ready? Let’s dive into it.

  1. SWEATSUITS! Sweatsuits are a girl’s best friend. Grab a Hanes sweatsuit from the Walmart Men’s department, or even Forever 21, and BAM…you’ve got your ‘fit. I know we think everything has to be name brand, but let your kicks do the talking. Find a color that complements your sneakers, and layer with either a denim button up shirt or colored T-shirt that shows under the crewneck (that’s MY go-to.). Depending on the weather, if you’re feeling a little jazzy, you can tie a cute shirt around your waist or wear a denim or leather jacket on top! I love wearing my Jordan 1’s or Yeezy’s with sweatsuits for an effortless look.
  2. If sweatsuits aren’t your thing? Grab a feminine long sleeve dress and layer with a blazer as the temperature begins to drop. The dress can be floral, striped, or even leather–it’s all about keeping your look feminine, but comfortable! Besides, who wants to walk around in heels all day anyway? Those days are SO far behind me–I’ve realized you can keep it feminine while showing impeccable style in kicks. H&M and ASOS have tons of options for cold weather dresses. When it comes to styling, Nike Cortez are a classic shoe that will take your feminine outfit to the next level. AirMax 97’s are also a nice structured sneaker to wear with dresses! They’re a fave of mine.
  3. Okay, y’all. Are you ready to be a BOSS and turn heads? A suit. Yep, I said it! A suit paired with cool kicks is a look that I don’t see often enough, so I rock it every chance I get! Wherever you go, I promise you’ll be head-turner and show-stopper. My favorite suits come from Zara or (wait for it…) Target, and I give it a whole new look with graphic tees, crop top, turtle neck, or hell, most of the time, no shirt at all *wink*. Personally, a great sneaker style to rock with a suit is a pair of Nike Outburst. Don’t believe me? Check out my Instagram, I do it all the time. I’ve been living in Nike EXP-X14’s these days, and would 100% rock them with a suit.
  4. Last, but CERTAINLY not least… Plaid pants. Plaid pants are my all time favorite item to pair with kicks and the fall & winter months. I pair them with a turtleneck or crew neck sweatshirt, and get questions upon questions about my outfit for weeks, not even kidding! Depending on how chilly it is, I’ll throw a fur jacket in the mix if I want to be real extra, LOL. For this look, any sneaker goes…Air Force Ones, AirMax 180s, Converse, Adidas, the list goes on! This look is super versatile, which makes getting dressed easier than ever.

XOXO,
