Mel’s Mob! I’ll cut to the chase: Ya girl has really been struggling creatively. Lately, I’ve been pushing myself to think of new ideas, but nothing good comes to me. I’ve had to stop myself from forcing it and just take a step back to regroup.
I guess the issue is that I’ve shared SO much with you guys over the years. My life, fashion, travel adventures, love (and lack there of), blogging tips—you name it, you can find it on this site. You’ve seen so many of my amazing ideas come to life and have been riding with me for years, so when I can’t create nonstop for you guys, I get frustrated and feel like I’m letting you down. It’s the worst, but I had to fight that feeling and take a real break. We all need one, right?

I figured I couldn’t be the only person that feels this way sometimes. I shared a post earlier this week on Instagram asking my fellow creatives how they get out of creative slumps, and they all came through with some awesome answers, so I figured I’d share them here with y’all! You never know when the rut hits, so I want to have something here we can all use. Here are some of my favorite answers:

1. “I definitely take breaks and I try not to beat myself up about it. Being creative is a process and takes energy!” – Derria, Blogger (@dlolo)

2. “I turn on my favorite music and clean my place and redecorate. My environment is such a big thing for me and how I work, especially creatively. It helps me reset.” – Annisa, Digital Creator (@annisalimara)

3. “I sit my ass still and surrender to the moment. Periodttttt.” – Felicia, Digital Creator (@felicialatour)

4. “I get outside my comfort zone. Going to random events around the city, watching random videos on YouTube, chatting with someone I wouldn’t normally talk to. Those things usually inspire new thoughts and ideas.” Jane, Fashion Model (@thundercattjane)

5. “I have learned to go with the flow. Take time when you need it. No one is always in a creative space and it is perfectly okay. Biggest thing for me is being in a place of gratitude, quiet, and beautiful serene hideaways help while reading a good book.” – Courtney, Clothing Designer & Fashion Enthusiast (@urbanglammgirl)

It’s so great to have solid creatives like this in my tribe. So the next time you feel you’re lacking creatively, be STILL, clean a room, turn on some music, read a book, or go out and network. I hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

Until next time!
