I remember a time when I prayed to see more of the world. I asked God to prepare me for a position with a company that allowed me to travel, or to at least grow my blogging career into something I needed to travel the world to do. To my surprise, He was like “I’ll do you one better…how about you get to do both?!” Won’t He do it?! I’m literally living out my #TravelGoals dreams, and life is so, so good because of it.

What people who live the jet-setting life tend to forget is that traveling all the time will take a toll on you, both mentally and physically. You’ll have times where you’re over it completely and can’t sleep well unless you’re in your bed. You’ll miss your own space, free from housekeeping ruining your sleep with early cleaning requests. Other times, my body feels like it’s shutting down completely. I’ll admit–sometimes I have moments where I’m like…how does Beyoncé do this ish?! But I’m super thankful that this is my journey, and one that I’ve asked, prayed, and worked for.

When your trips require you to be “ON” constantly, self-care is a MUST. I’ve got a little routine to keep my mind and body relaxed and fresh, so I’m dropping by to share them with you! (Hint: They all include wine…surprised? *wink*)

Bubble Baths

These are my jam! Before and immediately after my trips, a warm bubble bath is always a must. I love me some Dr. Teals, shout out to Myliek for putting me on. I add in the bath salts and foaming bath, Pink Himalayn to Restore and Replenish. or the Soothe & Sleep with pure Epsom Salt. I often light a candle and play some music with a glass of wine, of course. This helps me to relax, which is super important because I stay with a million things on my mind! Whether it’s an upcoming trip or work I need to finish, my mind stays racing, so this helps me focus on one thing and one thing only: unwinding! nothing like a good book and a bubble bath!

Reading

I’ve made promises to myself to get into reading more frequently, so I’ve started working it into my self-care routine as a way to keep it up. Reading allows me to escape from my phone, which somehow always seems to find its way into my hands…anyone else have this problem?! *covers face*

To challenge myself to stay off the phone, I’ll get comfy on the couch, bundle up in blankets, and leave my phone in my bedroom while I read. Of course, the ringer is on silent so I’m not tempted to get up when I get a text. I’m usually reading two books at once if I can’t choose which one to start first—crazy, right?! I can’t wait to share my reviews here on the blog.

Arts & Crafts

OMG, y’all! I wasn’t aware how fun coloring could be. I colored for the first time a few weeks ago and fell back in love with it. I felt like a kid again, and it was actually really calming! Why the heck do we stop when we’re grown? They make tons of cool adult coloring books for under $5, so it’s the perfect, inexpensive hobby to pick up.

Mani/ Pedi

Moment of honesty: When I get home after being on the road, my feet are the worst! They’re usually tired from all the walking, hurting from hours in heels at work events, and sometimes they’re even swollen after long flights. Pedicures are THE BEST THING to ever happen to my dogs. They were a luxury in college; now, they’re a MUST. I always get the deluxe so I can show them extra TLC and get a longer foot massage. The massage chair is just a plus! Ugh, it’s the perfect way to relax, of course til they start scrubbing my feet! I’m so freaking ticklish, so the relaxation ends and uncontrollable laughter begins during that part.

My nails are always done by my girl T at Artisan Nail Salon💁 💅

Out of the Office

Since I work from home, self-care for me is also about getting out of the house and away from technology. It’s easy to get stuck sitting at my desk in front of the computer, so I’ll get up, stretch, and go for a walk on the trail by my apartment. If I’m lucky, I’ll even get lunch with my mom or boyfriend as a good distraction from work.

Adding self-care to my routine is important to me, but it’s something we should all strive to make a priority. You’re your best asset! Protect yourself as best as you can. ESPECIALLY if you’re always on the go. Even hustlers, jet-setters, and boss babes need a break!
