Weekend Recap: Janet Jackson & PEACE

Weekend Recap: Janet Jackson & PEACE

Last week was whew, that's all I have to say about that. I was so excited for the weekend to get here and head out for a little fun with my bestie since 1st grade. She's in love with Janet and always have been since we were in about 6th grade so when we heard about the concert coming to Charlotte, we grabbed tickets immediately. She drove down from DC and we enjoyed a full night of new school and old school Janet. The night was amazing, we danced and sung until Janet made her exit off the stage. So thankful for great friends that I get to share amazing experience with.

Her concert was at the PNC Music Pavilion which is an outside venue so I wanted to make sure I was as comfy as possible. I forgot about this jersey type cropped shirt I purchased months ago from Forever 21 so I decided on it with a pair of jeans and sneakers. I hadn't done my hair in a few days  so I opted for a hat, lol.

Jeans: Gap | Top: F21 | Sneakers: Footlocker (sold out) | Denim Shirt: Old Navy | Hat: H&M

Dana left on Saturday so the rest of my weekend was spent reflecting, relaxing, and finally having a moment to myself since moving for New York.

PEACE, at the end of the day that's what it's all about, right!? After some reflecting I marched down to my local Massage Envy and treated myself. First a facial and then Sunday a massage. It was right on time and exactly what I needed, I was able to relax my mind and my body. I can't believe it had been 2 years since my last massage and facial, I'll never do that again. I snapped this photo while in the waiting area and it was so relevant to what I want at this point in my life, it's all about peace & happiness!

Sunday started with an amazing church service where I learned, "Not all falls are fatal. Some falls are transformational." I so needed this word and felt like Pastor Reeves was talking directly to me during the whole service. God's goal is to get you to "Straight Street" and sometime he has to blind you along the way. I just felt like someone may have needed that just as I did. The sermon was called "Redirected" and her read from Acts 9:1-22.

After church I headed back to Massage Envy for a massage ( I know they were tired of seeing me, lol). It was nothing short of AH-MAZING and I can't wait to go back for another one. After my massage I decided to take myself to see a movie so I headed across the street to the mall and did just that. I went to see The Perfect Guy which was pretty predictable, but I enjoyed spending time alone to think and gather myself  before starting another week.

"Sometimes you just need to be alone. Not to be lonely, but to enjoy your free time being yourself."

Do you set time aside to spend time with yourself? If so, what do you do?
