Travel Diary: Washington, DC

Travel Diary: Washington, DC

Pack your bags, we're headed to Washington, DC!

After a 7 hour Mega Bus trip I finally made it. My name should really be Melissa "Always Having Travel Issues" Chanel, lol. But I didn't let that steal my joy and my bestie was waiting on my arrival.

Meet Dana, she's been my best friend since first grade and now resides outside of Washington, DC. If you follow me on Instagram you've seen her before. After visiting me a month ago in NYC I told her once she was settled I would make my way to visit and Memorial Weekend was the perfect time for a break.

Friday night was a night out on the town. We headed down to one of Dana's favorite hookah spots in the city, Nomad. We're pretty much over the partying part of life (I guess we're getting old), but this spot was just my speed. They played awesome music and gave off a really relaxed and chill vibe. It was a long night, but so worth it.

Saturday was full of adventure. After lunch at my favorite, Chick-fil-a, we headed to National Harbor, in Maryland. You see that big ferris wheel, yup I made Dana face her fears and get on for an amazing view. After my trip to New Orleans a few weeks ago it's safe to say I LOVE OYSTERS. This time they I chose the baked oysters with cheese, onions, and spinach...YUMS!

Outfit details: It's the same Zara dress I wore HERE, I just styled it a little different. This time I decided to pair it with my high top chucks instead of heels and a denim shirt tied around my waist for the chilly nights.

Sunday was literally a FUN DAY! We headed to the pool at Dana's apartment for a little fun in the sun and we bought these yummy drinks along. The drinks were amazing, i'll put the recipe at the end of this blog post, but it's called "Sweet Revenge." After having too much fun we almost forgot about the day party we were suppose to attend so we cut our pool trip short to have a little downtown DC fun.

Here we are, snapping pics while waiting on our Uber! The rest of my Sunday was a blur, but follow me on SnapChat (MelissaChanel1) to get in on the fun.

Things I learned on this trip:

  • QT with your besties are needed at least once a month.
  • It's sooo many different parts of the DMV.
  • I'm getting old and can't party like I use to.
  • Best Friends always make you shop.
  • Sometime makeup isn't needed.
