Send Me Nudes

Send Me Nudes

As much as we love to add a pop of color with our lipsticks and lip stains, there’s nothing like a classic nude. It’s chic and goes with absolutely everything! The only issue is that for us brown girls, it’s hard to find the right shade of nude, which means we have a lot of trial and error ahead. Sometimes they work, sometimes they're too chalky, other times they're to dark, etc., etc. I often find myself buying and testing nude lips so much more often than I buy any other color lipstick, because contrary to popular belief (or contrary to my IG), it’s my go-to everyday lip. It’s the perfect lip for those days where I want to look put together but don’t have much time to do a full face; I just throw on a little powder, add a good nude lip and walk out the door.

Since I know I’m not the only one who struggles to find my perfect shade, I decided to share a few of my favorites in hopes that you’ll be able to find your go-to nude. I keep these in rotation and pretty much can't live without them. Ready?

First up...

The Lipbar's Man Eater

If you follow me on social media, this is the lipstick you most likely see me in on the regular. It’s my favorite of them all. And I'm a matte lip girl, so if it aint matte, I don't want it, LOL. Usually, mattes do a number on your lips because they're so drying, but nope! Not this one. This matte lip stain stays on for hours at a time, and my lips never feel dried out. I actually purchase this shade by the two’s and three’s, which goes to show just how much I can't live without it.

Mac's Velvet Teddy

Of course, another matte lipstick. I fell in love with Velvet Teddy a few years ago, and it's another nude that I have to keep around. It’s on the lighter side, but looks great with or without a liner and will give you a nice polished look on those makeup-less days. Again, mattes do tend to try your lips out a bit, so with this one, I add a little chapstick as a top layer and my lips are good to go.

ColourPop Ultra Glossy: Weho

Where are all my glossy girls? ColourPop is the ISH and very inexpensive. You probably see them getting lots of love for their poppin’ lip stain colors, but their nudes are the bomb, too! Most of all, I love that they team up with bloggers and celebrities to create lipstick lines that are to die for. (*Hint, Hint, ColourPop!*) This shade right here, Weho, is a more pinkish-nude color that goes perfectly with a cute spring dress, flower crown, or just an everyday casual makeup look. It's another one of my makeup staples. Want poppin' lips? Colourpop has you covered!

L.A. Colors High Shine Lipgloss: Dollface

Yet another classy nude! Ya’ll, let me tell you about this lipstick. I was at a Family Dollar event for Cantu when the ladies at L.A. Colors hooked me up with a gift package. I had so much lipstick and makeup that I had to gift a lot of it to friends. One friend and I literally fought over this one. It looked perfect on her chocolate skin and I loved it on my complexion as well. So what did we do? Went to our local Family Dollar and purchased more, LOL. It's just that good.

Styli-Style Matte Lip Crayon: Nude Attitude

This is another matte option. It's more of a crayon rather than a tube of lipstick or gloss, which I love. Crayons are always fun and lay perfectly because you're basically coloring your lips. The Styli-Style is also a cheaper lippie, at just $6.49.

Lancôme Color Design Matte Lip Crayon: Nothing To Wear

I told you guys I was obsessed with matte! I’m loving this crayon option from Lancôme; it literally matches your lip perfectly, no matter what shade you are. With this one, you can hardly tell I have anything on, which makes for a perfect look when I don’t feel like doing anything to my face. When you’re going for an effortless look, apply this lip crayon and you’re out the door!
