Happy almost Friday, y’all!

I’m living for the weekend, mainly because it’s my first time in WEEKS that I’ll be able to actually sit home with my man and—wait for it—DO NOTHING. I can’t freaking wait.

I’m always on the go and endless travel is a regular part of my life nowadays, but lately it’s been tougher than usual. When you’re in the thick of the excitement of a new relationship, you want to spend every waking moment together. I know we do!

You’ve peeped him on the ‘gram more recently, but me and my love Isa have been together for about six months now, and I couldn’t be happier! He’s the peanut butter to my jelly, the kicks to my fros. Even with my nonstop traveling, we’re able to share exciting experiences together, like road trips to cities like Charleston, South Carolina and his hometown of South New Jersey.

One of my favorite traditions to start with Isa revolves around our love of food. He loves to cook, and me? Your girl loves to eat, LOL. I’ll whip it up in the kitchen from time to time on a chill night, but when it comes to our fancier meals, my man’s got the juice.

This past Sunday kicked off two straight weeks of being in MY home, in MY bed, eating in MY kitchen, and I celebrated by having a Wednesday date night right at home with MY man.

Isa and I decided to test out a recipe from Soul Food Sessions, which was actually the Seared Scallops recipe they’ll be serving at the event next Tuesday. More on that later. I must say…it’s THE BOMB DOT COM. I have a fish allergy, but thankfully shellfish are OK with me because I LOVE scallops. The recipe had a little of what both Isa and I love—ginger, garlic, purple carrots, and a yummy potato leek soup—and we had the best time bonding over the stove with our favorite tunes playing.

We paired the dish with Coca-Cola Zero sugar, which perfectly complemented the rich scallops and the unique flavor of the chutney (also my first time making chutney…I’m stepping my game up, y’all!).

This delicious meal #sponsored by Soul Food Sessions, who’s taking their mission of increasing diversity in the culinary industry on the road, thanks to a partnership with Coca-Cola Consolidated. Their tour, The Table is Set: A four-city tour served with a Coke, kicks off in their home market of Charlotte on June 19. Soul Food Sessions is committed to increasing opportunities for minority chefs in the food industry, and they’re all about creating real, lasting change in the community. That’s so dope, and something I can definitely get behind.

Oh, did I mention there will be gifts?

Everything was so yummy, and even better was the memorable experience of making it together at home.
