Sheila Rashid is a 23 year old fashion designer from Chicago but is now based in New York City. Her bio states she took it upon her self to learn everything about the industry on her own and has been able to show the fashion elite who she truly is. I was able to catch up with her and ask a few questions about how she got started.
Q: What was the first piece you designed?
A: I think it was a cardigan but i started painting shirts and hoodies in high school.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration?
A: My inspiration comes from many places, love, geometric shapes, bursts of energy.
Q:What is the best perk about being a designer?
A: Best perk of being a designer is meeting the models and making my clients happy.
Q: Do you try to send out a message or themes in your clothes?
A: My clothes speak for itself, they usually say class.
Q: What do you wish people would understand about working in the fashion industry?
A: Working in the fashion industry people should understand it is a huge business and you must not just be creative.
Q:If you could give one piece of advice or information to someone trying to follow in your footsteps what would it be?
A: Advice I'd give someone is don't follow trends just be yourself.
Q:Anything else you would like to add…about your line?
A: My new line for 2012 will be an even better improvement than the last.
