The Big Easy! When I said I wanted to travel more this year, I really meant it. A few months ago my blogger friend Tamera asked that I join her on an upcoming trip to New Orleans. Ummm yes, like it wasn't even a question. I'd never travel to "THE BIG EASY," but had heard tons of stories from my mom and friends so my bags were packed and waiting at the door. *head tilt*
Packing for this trip was all about comfort. Not only this trip, but the older I get the more comfortable I need to be when it comes to my personal style. I didn't pack one pair of heels (although I had to buy a pair in Atlanta, that's another blog post) and I was very happy with my decision. The weather was perfect and I was happy with my decision on all three looks above. The first set is from Marshall's, I purchased it about two years ago and this was my first time popping the tags off. My second look, remember the dress I blogged about HERE, well this is the same dress in a different color & my favorite pair of pumas to date. And my final look, H&M 9.95 shorts and an old H&M top, can't get enough of these Aldo sandals either...I received tons of compliments on them. Now, on to the good stuff...
Food, food, and more food! I'm currently on a detox because of all the beignets I ate! I tried crawfish and char grilled oysters for the first time and they were both AMAZING. So if you're ever in New Orleans make sure you stop by Mr. B's Bistro, Acme, District Donuts, & Channing Tatums Saints & Sinners for some good food. You'll thank me later.
We explored New Orleans and even though my legs are paying for it now, it was all worth it.
Things I leaned on this trip:
- Never judge a book by it's cover.
- Traveling with a great friend is always a good idea.
- Southern states are the BEST.
- Try new foods even if you don't think you'll like it.
- Packing for comfort is the BEST decision I've ever made.
Tamera and I even met up with another blogger boo, Blake and had an amazing Birthday lunch at The Country Club that also came with TONS of laughs. Blake is also dope behind the Iphone 6, check out some of the pictures she took of me on my Instagram.
Tamera, I hope you had the best Birthday EVER and thanks for the invite. I had an amazing time and so glad I can now check New Orleans off my travel list.
Until next time,
